What is Trauma?

Unfortunately, many people do not make it through their lives without experiencing trauma (moments that overwhelm one’s ability to cope or process). Sometimes, that trauma gets “stuck” and does not become fully processed, resulting in feelings/body sensations of being unsafe.

Ultimately, this response may result in emotional dysregulation, numbness, or disconnection from themselves or others, leading to physical, psychological, or emotional issues. Although painful, trauma responses do not need to be the end of the story. You can process the traumatic experiences and find the deep needed sense of safety and security.

EMDR Therapy

We believe that healing and recovery from traumatic experiences is possible. One of the primary tools we use to help individuals become unstuck is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which allows the brain to process and adapt to experiences as needed. Please watch the video below to learn more about EMDR.
